A ball valve has a steel ball with slots that match up

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

A ball valve has a steel ball with slots that match up with hot and cold water inlet seals. They are washer-less, but the steel ball might need to be replaced, which is an easy repair also.

If you are planning on getting a boiler/system fitted or replaced there are certain things that you should keep in mind. One of the first things you should do is find out what type of system you already have installed to make sure you have the requirements needed for your new system. Also you should think about what you want from your central heating system, keeping in mind things such as; do you want instant or stored hot water? Different parts of your house heated independently, if so how many? And do you want your boiler hidden away?Bibcocks

There is no standard Central Heating System, every system is tailored to suit individual needs. Even if you only have a basic system you should still have the power to programme it correctly so that it can look after itself. You should be able to set it on a timer so that it can automatically turn itself on and off. With an advanced system you can take this one step further and have the control to set your Central Heating System so that it keeps your house at just the right temperature and gives you all the hot water that you will need. You should be able to control all of this, with your boiler burning the bare minimum amount of fuel.Pressure Valves

Your Central Heating tank where the water is fed into has a ball valve that is the same as the one seen in your toilet tank. This ball valve is a ball attached to an arm that, when lifted closes the valve, which means when the tank is full no more water can get in because the valve is closed. However when some water is drawn off the tank, the ball drops, the valve opens and more water gets into the tank, this is what needs to be stopped when draining your radiator. One of the best ways to stop this is by placing a piece of wood across the tank and tying the value arm to it, which will close this valve.

When all these precautions have been carried out, you should attach a hosepipe to the part of your radiator known as the outlet and run the end of the hosepipe outside. The water from your radiator will flow through the hosepipe and out of your radiator system. You must make sure before you start cleaning or replacing your radiator that all of the water has defiantly been drained out.Filter Check And Foot Valves

To make your system drain faster you should open any bleed valves on your radiators, starting with the radiators on the top floor and working your way down. When the water is drained off you are free to work on your radiator.

The ball valve controls the flow

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Many water heaters come with a drain valve that has a cone shaped handle. They spell trouble. Other makers of water heaters have a plastic faucet type drain valve. This type of drain valve is prone to breaks and leaks. The better types are the brass hose bibb, not unlike the average garden hose bibb. Even better would be brass ball valve. This type of drain valve would have a lever that can either be open or shut. The brass ball valve allows the most effective flushing of the water heater. Angle Valves

The ball valve controls the flow and temperature of the water by using a steel ball. The ball valves are washerless and easy to maintain because of this. Replacing a ball valve is readily affordable and easy to do.

Plastic cone valves and plastic faucet valves drip, freeze inside, and clog with sediment the easiest. Plastic threads are very easy to cross when you wish to attach a garden hose to the drain valve. Even after opening a plastic valve one time, using it and closing it back up, the valve may drip. To remove the plastic cone valve, unscrew it from the water heater by turning it counterclockwise while pulling it out. Six turns will probably be sufficient. Then turn clockwise and keep pulling. radiator valves Wrap teflon tape around the protruding nipple. Now install the brass ball valve. In order to avoid being sprayed with water while installing the new drain valve, first cut off the water supply at the cold water inlet near the top of the water heater. It is the pipe on the right side as you are facing it. Now open a hot water tap somewhere inside the house; any sink will do. Make sure the hot water tap is closed once water stops flowing through. That’ll keep any air from entering the lines. This relieves pressure off the lines and will allow the drain valve to be replaced without emptying the water heater. Make sure nobody is using any water while you are replacing the drain valve. Also turn the gas to pilot or pull the electrical plug if electric. Water Filters

Ball Valve researchers

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Ball Valve researchers point to a spherical ball-type valve patented in 1871 led to the invention of today’s ball valve. This ball valve was an all brass valve- brass ball and brass seats. Apparently this ball valve didn’t storm the market and was not mentioned in valve catalogs of the late 1800’s While today’s ball valve is quite a recent invention, the idea for this ball valve has been around about 125 years. The first resilient seated ball valve patent was issued in April,1945. Legend has it the company’s marketing department could not envision a use for the valve and it was not manufactured. Oh well, that’s the way the ball valve bounces…Given the huge reliance on the ball valve today, it’s a mystery why it took so long for people to invent and use the ball valve.

Inside the valve, there is a ball that has a port, which is actually a hole at the middle. When this hole is aligned with both valve ends, liquid can flow easily through it. After the valve has been closed, the hole becomes perpendicular to the valve ends impeding the flow of liquid.

Lots of different industries make use of ball valves in order to control fluid. Some of these industries are oil and gas manufacturers, chemical and petrochemical manufacturers, paper manufacturers, the textile manufacturing, power plants, steel manufacturers, pharmaceuticals processing and water and sewage plants.

There are two types of ball valves: the full port and the standard port. A full port ball valve makes use of an oversize ball in order to allow unrestricted flow. The size of the ball and the pipeline are identical, so this has a lower loss of friction. A standard port, on the other hand, has a slightly controlled flow and makes use of a smaller ball. This ball is smaller than the pipeline, and it also has a smaller port. The valve’s pipe is one pipe size bigger than the standard port in which the liquid flows.

we supply different kinds of ball valves

Sunday, March 8th, 2009
we supply different kinds of ball valves, size from 1/4″ to 4″ they can be used for water, gas and oil. The ends of thread F/F. F/M. M/M are the normal ball valves, but we can also supply the ball valves for pex-al-pex pipes. Straighter normal ball valves, angle ball valves and mini ball valves are all available. For the body of ball valve, we can make it from brass and zinc, and for the ball, it is usually made from brass chrome plated, but if you need cheaper, we can make it in steel chrome plated. The cheapest model is zinc body with steel ball.
type of ball valves
There are four general body styles of ball valves: single body, split body, top entry, and welded.
There are four general types of ball valves : full port, standard port, reduced port, and v port.
A full port ball valves has an over sized ball so that the hole in the ball is the same size as the pipeline resulting in lower friction loss. Flow is unrestricted, but the valve is larger.
A standard port ball valves is usually less expensive, but has a smaller ball and a correspondingly smaller port. Flow through this valve is one pipe size smaller than the valve’s pipe size resulting in slightly restricted flow.
In reduced port ball valves, flow through the valve is one pipe size smaller than the valve’s pipe size resulting in restricted flow.
A v port ball valve has either a ‘v’ shaped ball or a ‘v’ shaped seat. This allows the orifice to be opened and closed in a more controlled manner with a closer to linear flow characteristic. When the valve is in the closed position and opening is commenced the small end of the ‘v’ is opened first allowing stable flow control during this stage. This type of design requires a generally more robust construction due to higher velocities of the fluids, which would quickly damage a standard valve.
A ball valve has a mechanical means of anchoring the ball at the top and the bottom, this design is usually applied on larger and higher pressure valves (say, 4″ and above 600 psi and above).
Manually operated ball valves can be closed quickly and thus there is a danger of water hammer. Some ball valves are equipped with an that may be pneumatically or motor (electric) operated. These valves can be used either for on/off or flow control. A pneumatic flow control valve is also equipped with a positioner which transforms the control signal into actuator position and valve opening accordingly.

A ball valve, one type of quarter turn valve

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

A ball valve, one type of quarter turn valve, is quite literally a ball placed in a passageway through which fluid flows. The ball has a hole through it, by which the valve opens and closes. When the ball is positioned so that the hole runs the same direction as the passageway, the fluid simply flows through the hole, and the valve is open.
